Terms of Use
Last updated: 9 April 2026
Agreement to Terms
These terms govern your use of Futuric Pulse services, including our physical bookshop, website, subscriptions, consultations, and events. By using our services, you agree to these terms.
If you disagree with any part of these terms, please don't use our services. We're a small independent business trying to treat customers fairly, so these terms reflect that approach rather than aggressive legal positioning.
About Our Business
Futuric Pulse operates as an independent bookshop from our location at 42 Chamberlayne Road, Kensal Rise, London NW10 3JH, United Kingdom. We offer book sales, personalised recommendations, subscription services, reading consultations, events, and related literary services.
You can contact us at [email protected] with questions about these terms or our services.
Using Our Website
Access and Availability
We make our website available for your personal, non-commercial use. While we aim for consistent availability, we don't guarantee the site will always be accessible. Technical issues, maintenance, or circumstances beyond our control may occasionally cause interruptions.
Acceptable Use
When using our website, you agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
- Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code
- Scrape or harvest data using automated systems without permission
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organisation
- Use the site in ways that could damage, disable, or impair its functioning
- Attempt to circumvent security or authentication measures
Basically, use the site as it's intended and don't try to break things or cause problems for others.
Content Accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to ensure information on our website is accurate and current. However, errors occasionally occur. Book descriptions, pricing, and availability are subject to change. If you notice inaccuracies, we'd appreciate you letting us know.
Purchases and Pricing
Book Purchases
When you purchase books from us, you're making an offer to buy at the advertised price. We accept this offer when we process your payment and provide the books, creating a contract between us.
Prices include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges, if any, are specified before you complete your purchase.
Pricing Errors
Despite careful attention, pricing mistakes happen. If we discover we've significantly mispriced an item you've ordered, we'll contact you promptly. You can choose to complete the purchase at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Payment
We accept various payment methods as indicated at the time of purchase. Payment is processed through secure third-party providers. We don't store complete payment card details on our systems.
Availability
While we maintain a substantial inventory, occasionally books sell out between when you order and when we fulfil the order. If something becomes unavailable, we'll contact you about alternatives or process a refund promptly.
Subscription Services
How Subscriptions Work
Our subscription services provide regular book deliveries based on your preferences. When you subscribe, you authorise recurring charges at the specified interval until you cancel.
Subscription Changes
You can pause or cancel subscriptions at any time through your account or by contacting us. Changes take effect from the next billing cycle if made at least seven days before your renewal date.
Price Changes
We may occasionally adjust subscription prices to reflect changes in costs. We'll notify you at least thirty days before any price increase takes effect, giving you the opportunity to cancel if you prefer.
Returns and Refunds
Your Right to Return
For purchases made online or by distance sale, UK consumer law gives you fourteen days to change your mind and return items for a full refund. This cooling-off period starts when you receive the goods.
Books must be returned in resaleable condition—unread, unmarked, and in original packaging where applicable. You're responsible for return postage unless the return is due to our error.
In-Shop Purchases
While there's no legal right to return items purchased in person, we want you to love what you read. If a book isn't right for you, bring it back within thirty days in resaleable condition for an exchange or store credit.
Damaged or Defective Books
If you receive damaged or defective books, contact us immediately. We'll arrange a replacement or refund, including return postage, without quibbling about whose fault it was.
Subscription Refunds
If a subscription book doesn't suit you, you can exchange it within the month for something else. This helps us refine our understanding of your preferences while ensuring you're reading books you actually want.
Consultation and Event Services
Booking and Cancellation
Reading consultations and event tickets can be booked through our website, by email, or in person. If you need to cancel, we appreciate at least twenty-four hours' notice when possible.
Consultation Outcomes
Reading consultations provide personalised recommendations based on our expertise and your stated preferences. While we're confident in our suggestions, we cannot guarantee you'll love every recommended book—taste is subjective and part of what makes reading interesting.
Event Changes
Occasionally, events must be rescheduled or cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, such as author illness or travel issues. We'll notify affected ticket holders promptly and offer refunds or transfers to alternative events.
Intellectual Property
Our Content
Content on our website—including text, images, design, and recommendations—is owned by Futuric Pulse or used with permission. You may view and use this content for personal purposes but not reproduce, distribute, or repurpose it commercially without our consent.
Book Recommendations
Our curated recommendations reflect considerable expertise and effort. While you're welcome to discuss and share recommendations we've given you, please don't reproduce our curation work commercially or pass it off as your own.
Your Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about our services, we may use these to improve our business without obligation or compensation to you. We appreciate constructive input and take customer feedback seriously.
Limitation of Liability
We provide services with reasonable care and skill. However, to the extent permitted by law:
We're not liable for indirect losses or consequential damages arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
This doesn't affect your statutory rights as a consumer. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be legally limited.
Third-Party Links
Our website may link to external sites we don't control. We're not responsible for content, policies, or practices of third-party websites. Links don't imply endorsement beyond indicating we think something might interest you.
Privacy and Data Protection
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information is detailed in our Privacy Policy and GDPR documentation. These are incorporated into these terms by reference.
In brief: we respect your privacy, collect only what we need, use information responsibly, and give you control over your data.
Account Security
If you create an account with us, you're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used for fraudulent purposes.
Communication Preferences
By providing your email address, you agree we may contact you about orders, subscriptions, events you've registered for, and account matters. This is necessary communication related to services you've requested.
Marketing communications require separate consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option.
Delivery
For items we deliver, we aim to dispatch within the timeframes specified at the time of purchase. Delivery times are estimates based on typical postal service performance but are not guaranteed.
Risk passes to you upon delivery. If items go missing after successful delivery, we'll help where we can but cannot be held responsible for losses occurring after the carrier has completed delivery.
Gift Services
When you purchase gift services or books as gifts, you're responsible for providing accurate recipient information. We'll deliver as instructed but cannot be held liable if incorrect details result in failed delivery.
Gift recipients have the same return and exchange rights as direct purchasers.
Dispute Resolution
If problems arise, please contact us first. Most issues can be resolved through straightforward conversation. We're a small business that values customer relationships and will work with you to find reasonable solutions.
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, either party may pursue formal resolution. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes fall under the jurisdiction of English courts.
As a consumer, you may also be entitled to use alternative dispute resolution schemes. Information about these options is available from Citizens Advice or Trading Standards.
Force Majeure
We're not liable for failures or delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, transportation failures, or government actions. During such events, we'll do our best to minimise disruption and communicate with affected customers.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms periodically to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or services offered. Significant changes will be communicated through our website and, for registered customers, via email.
Continued use of our services after changes indicates acceptance of revised terms. If you disagree with modifications, you may discontinue using our services.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary. The remaining terms continue in full force.
Entire Agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy, and GDPR documentation, constitute the entire agreement between you and Futuric Pulse regarding use of our services. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.

Our Philosophy
These terms are necessarily legal documents, but we approach business relationships based on mutual respect and reasonable expectations. We'll treat you fairly, honour our commitments, and expect the same in return.
We'd much rather spend our time helping you find brilliant books than enforcing legal terms. If something seems unclear or unreasonable, talk to us. We're approachable humans who care more about books and readers than legalese.
